Over the past few years we have talked about moving home, in many ways we should have done it when Roo was just a baby but for one reason or another, we stayed put. Moving house was something of a dream, something that felt at times like those ‘if I won the lottery I would…‘ conversations as it just didn’t seem to happen for us.
Last summer we made the decision that we would finally move home within the next year, not only as we were rapidly running out of space with the arrival of Piglet but in order to provide a better quality of family live. Mr Boo currently commutes to work every day and it has not only taken its toll on him but he misses ou on time with the children as well as their activities.
As the New Year arrived we were prepared to put our house on the market, I’d organised several valuations from local estate agents and had decided upon which one we were going to go for. However, an offer from family to stay in our home whilst we rented somewhere closer to Mr Boo’s work threw a spanner in the works and since then we have been looking for a rental property.
We had always decided to rent for at least the first year so that we could select the right area in which we wanted to live, good schools etc. Having never rented a property before I have to say that it has been an eye-opening experience, it’s so stressful, frustrating and quite shocking the state of some houses that landlords feel are fit to be rented.
We’ve had a few hiccups along the way but finally earlier this week a house that we had seen a few weeks ago was agreed upon by estate agents, landlord and referencing agency. So next week we finally leave the house we have lived in for the past 10 years and the house that has been the first home to all three of my children. Next week we are moving into a much bigger house (in fact, it’s at least twice the size of where we currently live) with a good size garden for the children to enjoy this summer too.
Apologies in advance for the intermittent posts, our internet supplier has cut us off a week early and I’m relying on my phone’s data plan to keep me in touch with the world.
