What do you get when you cross scary costumes, devilishly delightful treats, black cats and pumpkins? It’s Halloween, of course! Welcome to Spooksville!
It’s that time of year when things take a spooky turn. From the nights slowly drawing in and it gets darker much earlier in the day, to the pumpkins ripening ready for them to be used for creating jack o’lanterns to add a little light into the darker nights. Although we most commonly associate pumpkins with Halloween which are used to signal if you are welcoming trick-or-treaters to your home or not wishing to be disturbed.
If you are someone who celebrates Halloween and is looking to get involved with the spookiness and spooktacular or it all then take a look at the different ways you can enjoy the Halloween season.
Stick to Trick or Treat Etiquette in your area
Halloween will be here before you know it and with that comes the need to discuss some trick-or-treating etiquette for parents and kids. There are some unspoken rules and manners that should be applied when you head out the door to knock on your neighbours’ doors to say trick or treat this year. Make sure to take a look at this post for full details on the etiquette you should be looking to follow this year.
Staying at home for Halloween
There are many reasons that you could decide to celebrate Halloween, however, do this at home rather than head out and conduct trick or treating in your neighbourhood etc. In this case, I have a range of different ideas on how you can say Welcome To Spooksville in your home and have fun with some spooktacular spooky ways.
Trick or Treating at Home Game!
Print out this free download Trick or Treating at Home Game and cut out each card. Read each card and hide a trick or a treat in the places the clues lead to for your children to find. You can decide whether to leave a trick (such as toy spiders, horrible-tasting sweets etc.) or a treat! Ensure you leave enough treats for the number of children playing. Ensure your children have a bag or bucket to collect their treats in.
Shuffle the printed cards and place them face down in a pile. Ask your children to take turns, starting by picking one
card from the top, and then reading out the clue. They must solve the clue and try to hunt the trick or treat. You may need to
prompt them with more clues if needed. Feel free to take out, change, or add any cards to suit your home.
