Back in 2006 Great Yarmouth held a Sand Sculpture Festival where 60 figures were created across the central beach. With Olympic gods and legends of the Trojan Horse, Odysseus and the Cyclops sculptures including this one of Poisedon rises from the sea.

Whilst the festival had some amazing sand sculptures the entry price of £6.00 for adults and £4.00 for children really put off local residents, after all it is our beach why should we be charged?
In the spirit that the beach is there for everyone to enjoy Woolcombe Bay have launched a fabulous summer sandcastle competition, with the lucky winner receiving a holiday for up to 6 people (Please see the infographic below for further details). Whilst I don’t think my sandcastle making skills are all that great it is the fun and imagination that goes into making it that counts. So why not pack up your bucket and spade and head off for an afternoon of fun at your local beach to see what you can create.
