Dear Tigger,
My little boy you have come so far since starting school. Whilst you have always had a good vocabulary (with chatterboxes like Mummy and Roo it was almost a certainty that you’d chatter as much as we do), you do tend to hide on the sidelines until you are ready to join in, taking life at your own pace instead of rushing along like your sister.
This week Mummy received a letter in the post from your school telling me that you’d be chosen as Star of the Week and I can’t tell you how proud I was when I opened that letter (I actually thought it was about the healthy weight scheme). Whilst Daddy had to head off to Brentwood on Friday so would miss the special assembly Mummy was able to attend and see you receive your award.
I waited patiently for all the classes to come in and take their seats, then suddenly you appeared and spotted me straight away – although I’m not sure if you knew why I was there. The assembly started with some special awards going to other children who had been competing in activities outside of school before your deputy headmaster moved onto the Star of the Week children from each class.
With you being in reception class your name was called out first and I worried that you might be too shy to stand up at the front of the hall in front of the other children but you happily stood up and join Mr S at the front with your class teacher handing over your certificate for completing beautiful joined up writing. Mummy is especially happy about this as she learned joined up handwriting at school too.
As you stood at the front of the hall waiting for the other children who were gaining Star of the Week from their class teacher you spotted Roo and were keen to show off your new certificate and I could see that she was so very happy for you too.
After your assembly we headed down to the cookery room to enjoy a biscuit and drink, although you weren’t that fussed by what was there and asked to go back to your classroom.
Well done Tigger, we are all very proud of you
Love you, Mummy xox
