As if blogging wasn’t already a little complicated with SEO tips and changes with Google search, but now I’m going to dive into the topic of what you need to do before you publish a blog post. Blogging can be a lucrative, and fun industry to be a part of.
Whether you use blogging to make money or experience new things, it’s such a fun community to be a part of. With that being said, there are still some things every blogger needs to do before they publish their next blog post.
What you need to do before you publish your next blog post
Write an Outline
Sometimes writing an outline creates more work and might make creativity harder, but having a basic outline will help you focus on all parts of your new blog post topic. A simple outline such as bullet points and tidbits of information you want to share within the blog post will keep you focused on writing a blog post that stays on topic throughout the entire blog post.
Target Specific Keywords
Once you’ve written your outline for your new blog post, make sure you have some specific keywords to focus on. You might want to jot those keywords down on a sticky note. This sticky note can be placed on your desk in front of you so that you’re able to insert the specific keywords into your blog post as you finish writing your content.
Link to Older Blog Posts
Now that you’ve written your blog post with a target on specific keywords, it’s time to link to some older blog posts. Interlinking is good for SEO purposes and allows readers to click through to read more on your blog as you work to reduce your bounce rate per cent. Within your WP blog post editor, you can highly a word, click the link button, and search for specific blog posts to link to.
Write a Catchy Title
I’m sure you’ve heard of clickbait titles, you know those titles that when you click over the article has nothing to do with said title?! While you do need to write a catchy title, make sure your title pertains to what your blog post is about. You’ll want your blog post title to be something that compels people to click over and read, without sounding too spammy.
Review Sentences
Make sure you review your blog post before hitting publish for redundant sentences. YOAST is a plugin for WordPress blogs that can help with this. YOAST will tell you whether or not your readability is up to par and whether your sentences are too long. Adjust all of your blog post sentences to be no more than 20 words each at the most for maximum SEO.
These are just some of the things you need to do before you publish your blog posts. Don’t forget to create high-quality images for shares on social media. You will want a nice Pinterest friendly image within your blog post for readers to pin your content. If you follow these tips with every new blog post-publication, you’ll soon find that your blog traffic increases.
