It might have been the shortest month of the year but February managed to pack in the highs and lows of family life. It has felt a very chaotic month with us all coming and going at different times. Despite having the children off school for half term I feel as though I haven’t spent much quality time together as Roo was away on her Italy ski trip.
The month that was… February 2020
Boo and What The Dad Said
We had prepared ourselves for a busy month after looking at the family calendar. Such is life, that a few curveballs were thrown our way and it became much more hectic than planned. With me needing to be away more often than first thought. Fortunately, we have always managed to juggle the childcare between the two of us so it was just a little bit of rearranging needed to enable me to getaway.
That being said, I have felt so conflicted this month as to whether I am applying my efforts in the right areas at the right times. With the different areas of my life needing different things from me, never quite feeling as though I’m getting the balance right.
Roo
It’s fair to say that Roo’s school ski trip dominated almost all of the month. Between ensuring that we had all of the ski essentials that she had on her kit list. Enough food and supplies for her coach journey (which turned into a mammoth journey due to ferry delays and coach breakdowns). Having her away over the half-term holidays felt so strange. Although she was off having fun, falling over (the first to be snowmobiled down the slopes) and navigating ski trips. She’s come home looking and feeling older than when she left – I’m not quite ready for her to grow quite so much.
Tigger
It’s been a fun-filled month for Tigger, kick-starting with a trip to our local Apple Store. He loves to learn about coding so I’d managed to book him onto a getting started with Swift Playgrounds session. Despite being pitched at older children, Tigger did amazingly.
The half-term holidays brought family days out, with our first visit to Diggerland Yorkshire which he loved. Brave enough to take on the diggers, trucks and dumpers as well as the Spindizzy ride – which I felt sick just looking at.
Piglet
Preschool is doing her the world of good with her absorbing so much at the moment. Family adventures have been high on her list this month. Seeing the newborn lambs at Willows Activity Farm and splashing in all the puddles left over from the storms. Plus a magical trip to Roarr! Dinosaur Adventure where she loved meeting Witchgettygrub and listening to her tell stories.
