Dear Roo
When you started your junior school back in September I worried that you wouldn’t like it as much as your infant school. With a larger building and different teachers taking you for different subjects, I thought that you might feel like a little fish in a big pond.
I was wrong, you love your new school and your teachers… especially Mrs B who takes you for gym class.
From that first Thursday gym class, it was clear to see that Mrs B was going to become your favourite teacher. When a letter came home about doing indoor athletics on a Monday after school you wanted to take part. Picking you up after the first session I could see why you loved Mrs B and that she valued your willingness to help. Within a few weeks, you were her assistant, helping set the equipment out and put things away afterwards. With indoor athletics coming to an end with the close of the Autumn term I wondered whether you’d keep your love of sport in the New Year.
Again I needn’t have worried as you excitedly brought home a letter to take part in hockey on Monday’s after school. Swiftly followed by a letter asking if you would like to take part in girl’s football training on a Tuesday after school.
This has been your first week of doing hockey and football training and you have come home full for the love of sport. It is lovely to see you so excited to be trying new sports and whilst you’ll admit that you aren’t the greatest you are enjoying it all the same.
I really hope your love of sport continues (not only as you’ve convinced me to buy you astroturf football boots and shin pads).
Love you, Mummy xox
