Aviva Community Fund // What the awards are used for in Norfolk

Throughout your daily life, you will come across local groups, communities and causes.  Some of which you will access and use the services they provide regularly, others you will have heard of because of their involvement in your area, whilst there will be those that you might not be aware of until you are in need of the support, advice, or the facilities that they offer.

The majority of these services will be run using funds that these groups have raised themselves or via grants. With budgets becoming more restricted, these causes are in need of a helping hand to ensure that they are able to continue their fantastic work.  The Aviva Community Fund is one those helping hands that each year offers local causes and community groups the opportunity to bid for funding.

The UK’s leading youth homelessness charity Centrepoint has just launched The Big Broth, a competition to find the tastiest home-made soup recipe.

Pantosauraus: A fun way to keep your child safe from sexual abuse

Let’s talk about sexual abuse. Or if you happen to be the parent of a young child a more likely response would be ‘let’s not’. For many, the idea of sitting down with your offspring when they are still getting to grips with primary school and speaking about how they can stay safe from sexual abuse is about as appealing as a nasty trip to the dentist.

RNLI Fish Supper: Child-friendly fish suppers

As a child I loved having a fish supper, I even went through a phase of only wanting fish fingers for me tea.  Somewhere in my teenage years I gained a food aversion to fish and would be sick if I ate it.  However, during my pregnancy with Piglet, it was one of the foods that I craved.  Thankfully it is something that I have been able to continue to enjoy since her birth.  So a fish supper is now regularly on our family meal plan.
