Still time for garden games fun

September 16, 2014

I’m not quite sure what happened to the weather this August, the long awaited warm, sunny and carefree days never really materialised. September, however has been glorious so far, typical just as the children have gone back to school. Making good use of the warmer evenings and sunny weekends whilst they last it has given us the perfect opportunity to get out and enjoy some garden games.

Whilst enjoying an hour at the park, kicking a ball around the football pitch or even getting out and about on or scooters can be good fun it is the more traditional games that bring a smile to my face.

Garden Croquet Set

You could be fooled into thinking that garden croquet is just for those in high society, when in fact it can be great fun for all. Grab a wooden croquet set, they always seem to better quality, set up a course in your garden or down your local playing field and off you go.

Wooden Quoits Set

Quoits is a game that I remember from attending the fun fair as a child, trying desperately to throw one over a milk bottle to win a prize. Anyone who has seen my terrible hand-eye co-ordination will guess that I never did manage to win anything. A wooden quoits set is great for teaching hand-eye co-ordination, counting and gamesmanship.Wooden Quoits Set

Retro Space Hopper

Earlier this I hop onto a retro space hopper in the name of charity, as part of the Team Honk relay. Despite the appalling weather I had a blast, flashbacks of my childhood bouncing up and down my Granny’s driveway with my uncle having a go and popping it as he bounced a little too eagerly. What better way to burn off some excess energy than space hopper races!Retro Space Hopper

What fun and games do you get up to in the garden?

Disclosure: We received the above garden games FOC for our local Beaver Scout group – a big thank you to Find Me A Gift!
