Welcome to all the Boo Roo And Tigger Too readers. I’m Cicely and I work for Soren’s House, a modern, natural design store for children.
With the evenings becoming darker & darker, my mind is slowly starting to think about Christmas (I’m sorry, I said it!!). This will be my youngest child’s second Christmas & (fingers crossed!) we won’t be in lockdown this year, so there is a lot to celebrate. I thought I would jot down some potential gift ideas for my little one, which would be great gift inspiration for any under 2’s.
Gift inspiration for under 2’s
Problem Solving Toys
First up we’ve got the Egmont Wooden Dino Egg Puzzle. A really lovely problem-solving game for little ones featuring 6 wooden dinosaurs hiding under beautiful pastel egg shapes. This activity is brilliant for developing fine motor skills, precision & puzzle-solving, & at only £12.95 would be a really lovely gift for a young friend or relative. My son has taken a real interest in dinosaurs recently & I think he would get real joy from discovering them hiding under the eggs.
Role Play Toys
Next on the list is the Plan Toys Wooden Washing Machine. Plan Toys have a lovely range of role-play toys such as stove, refrigerator & sink, made from stunning natural rubberwood, which are perfect for engaging kids in acting out what they see at home & developing their imagination. My son spends so much time at home playing with our wooden toy kitchen, mostly filling & emptying the cupboards, so I think the washing machine would be a toy he would really enjoy & explore.
Water Play Toys
Both my children absolutely love water play. If we have had a day of tantrums, water is the way to solve it. Whether it’s a sink, bath or a water-based activity, it will bring them around. The Liewood Gaby Silicone Bath Toys look like they will go down a treat in our house. The set features 5 silicone characters that float on water & also sprinkle & spray water through assorted holes. These fun characters will also be useful for animal & colour recognition.
Small World Play
We have a lot of fun using our WayToPlay road, but I think using some recognisable cars such as police, ambulance etc would really develop the play & help us create some small world play activities. The Bloomingville Set Of 6 Wooden Cars features 6 well-known car designs, made to be the perfect size for little hands & they even come in a handy drawstring cotton bag!
Reading
Wee Gallery have a really lovely range of interactive books, from Press & Listen, to Slide & Play. Our go-to book for entertainment out of the house is the Toot-Toot Boom book by Wee Gallery; my son absolutely loves music & he seems to really love being able to control the music in the book himself. He would definitely get a lot of enjoyment from a similar book with a different theme such as Moo Cluck Baa.
I hope these toddler gift ideas have given you some inspiration for your Christmas gift buying this year, and sorry again for mentioning the C word!
