It’s that time of the year when my slow cooker really starts to earn its keep. Between birthdays, school activities and preparing for Christmas my days feel as though they have fewer hours in them. As much as I like to think that I am a multitasker, I do tend to get waylaid as I complete jobs.
This year I am determined to have my slow cooker in use most days, cooking up delicious family meals ready for when the children get home from school. This will enable me to help them with their homework properly rather than just a glance as I stir a pan on the hob.
If there is one slow cooker recipe I am known for in my family, it has to be my Slimming World Pulled Pork recipe. It’s one that I pull put for family barbecues, one to feed Mr. Boo’s work colleagues when they are busy doing a stock take or price changes. And one that I know will always be devoured without question.
I do, however, need to expand my slow cooker recipe selection, so I’ve been looking at my fellow bloggers for inspiration. Top of my list has to be Mum in The Mad House’s Fakeaway slow cooker doner kebab. Mr. Boo and Roo love to have a doner kebab but I’m always a little hesitate as to what it contains (I’ve heard too many horror stories), not to mention the cost of paying for a takeaway when you can make it at home for a fraction of the price.
Aly over at Bug Bird Bee loves her slow cooker and has shared a number of slow cooker recipes which I want to try this autumn. From vegan carrot cake, vegetable lasagna to pecan and apricot bread and butter pudding.
Cass from Frugal Family understands what life is like for a busy family and has shared some great time saving batch cooking ideas for the slow cooker. From lemon and garlic chicken, slow cooker tomato sauce (and 7 things you can do with it) to nine things you can make in the slow cooker.
For those with a sweet tooth or looking for a fab Christmas gift idea, then try Actually Mummy‘s white chocolate and cranberry recipe. Although she made it on the hob, it can be easily adapted and made using the slow cooker.
