Searching for a girls winter coat

December 14, 2014

We’ve been quite fortunate this year in that we have enjoyed milder weather during the autumn and early winter than we normally do. This being said it wasn’t until the end of last month that I started to think about getting Roo a new winter coat with December approaching I new that the coldest months were still ahead. Searching the high street stores and supermarkets I came home somewhat dismayed at the selection of girls winter coats available.

Why is searching for a girls winter coat so hard?

Of the winter coats I could find they were either made of shiny fabrics or had fur trimmed hoods and collars, something that neither myself or Roo really like. Dis-hearted at the selection in stores I turned to the internet where again I was let down on the selection, when I put a plea out on Facebook to help me find a non-shiny and non-fur trimmed winter coat for Roo. One brand was recommended time and time again, Joules – I have to be honest in that I’d never really looked at their children selection (must preferring to search for myself).

Heading over to check out the Joules girls winter coat selection I was in a happy bunny just looking at the landing page. Liking all of the coats at first glance it was hard to narrow it down to just one so Roo ended up with two Joules winter coats.

Joules – French Navy Jnr, Thorpe Girls’ Padded Jacket

The Thorpe girls’ padded jacket caught my eye at first as it looked the warmest of the selection. With it’s contrasting piping, zipped and popper fastening and pack away hood, it makes it a great all round coat for the winter.

This coat will have her crossing her fingers for cooler weather. It’s filled with a warming wadding and finished with contrasting piping detail that makes it one of the stylish little coats we’ve ever designed.

Ordering a larger size than Roo normally wears thinking that she would require the extra space for the winter layers, however I found the sizing quite generous and she could have easily fit into her usual size (at least she has more room for growing).

Joules – French Navy Jnr, Marcotte Girls Quilted Hooded Coat

The Marcotte girls quilted hooded coat was one that Roo had her eye on. The quilted design with a fabulously fun lining it makes it a stylish coat to wear. It is one of the coats I have had my eye on in the women’s section and is on my Christmas wish list for Santa to bring me.

We’ve shrunk one of our best-loved women’s quilted jackets, so that now your little one can enjoy this super snug style. It’s a great go-to as the temperature slowly begins to dip. We’ve added all the little details that make keeping out the cold a little more fun.

With a zipped and popper fastening it helps ensure that the weather is kept at bay and Roo is kept warm and cosy. The fixed hood means that as soon as it starts to rain Roo is able to protect herself from it as soon as possible. Machine washable means that no matter what adventures Roo gets up to the mud and such like can be washed away ready for the next adventure.

How do you search for your daughter’s winter coat?

Disclosure: We received two Joules girl’s coats FOC for the purpose of review.
