Last year as we were preparing for back to school I purchased a personalised boot bag for Roo from Name It Labels after being frustrated at the number of those drawstring gym bags that seem to fall apart after a couple of uses. Roo takes part in many different sports across the school week so I needed something that would withstand carrying her gym kit as well as her football boots and shin pads.
Almost a year later the boot bag is still going strong it hasn’t ripped, the zip hasn’t broken and the handle is still intact. In fact, to look at it you would think that we had just bought it as it is still clean (despite being hot pink and carried here, there and everywhere). With Tigger now taking part in sports regularly at school, it was time to get him something to hold his gym kit too. Our obvious choice was the boot bag that Roo has.
Although there are several different designs to choose from I decided that the classic name across the front was best to go with as it makes identifying it so much easier amongst a pile of bags. There are six different colour options to choose from and I initially thought that Tigger would opt for the bright blue, however, he wanted the black paired with the white writing I think it looks very smart.
The boot bag itself can be used for all ages, with little ones like Roo and Tigger able to easily get their gym kit (tracksuits, shorts, t-shirts, and plimsolls) in there with additional room for football boots and shin pads. The older they get they might not be able to get so much in there but I’d say its a great size for both primary and secondary school age. Complete with a mesh pocket on the rear to hold snacks, paperwork or even their shin pads. It also comes with a double zip so you can open easily and an air hole to allow smelly trainers to air when they are being sorted within the boot bag.
It always surprises me just how many items you have to label for the children and school. Whilst their uniforms are an obvious one it is all the small things that I must admit I never thought of. For example, lunch box, water bottle, sun hat, sun cream, shoes, trainers etc.to name just a few. This isn’t to mention when they go on residential stays and you have a whole new pile of things to label including sleeping bags, plates, bowls etc.
Roo recently completed her first school residential trip and whilst it was very helpful of the school to send a kit list I was somewhat unprepared as I attempted to mark up some of her kit with a Sharpie pen (note – don’t do this, it doesn’t work well). Luckily Name It Labels had sent me through some if their funky monogram stick on labels for Roo so I was able to correct my mistake and pop one of the name labels within her baseball cap, on the back of her plates, inside her rucksack etc.
Available in a host of different colour choices I knew straightaway that Roo would want the different shades of purple, and I have to admit they do look good. I actually think that these would be great for those starting school as a great way for them to start recognising their initials alongside their name.
