I’m well known as the person who buys children new pyjamas and a book for Christmas. You can never have enough pyjamas (FACT) and you can certainly never have too many books either. I’m quite lucky in that Roo and Tigger loves receiving new books and so are happy to find the latest title under the Christmas tree. This year Roo has her eye on the David Walliams books and the illustrated versions of the Harry Potter books. Whilst Tigger loved the look of the Christmasaurus book by Tom Fletcher when we were last in the city bookshop.
With a whole new world to explore when a child opens up a new book for the first time, it is a gift that keeps giving. As they re-explore those worlds and characters each time they read the book again and again. Christmas is the perfect opportunity to buy them a new book, whether it is another book from their favourite author, one they have seen advertised or one that has caught your eye as you browse the shelves.
#GiveABook Competition
Tell Scholastic which book you’d choose to give a child and why using the hashtag #GiveABook by 16th December and they’ll pick their three favourite posts and donate a book-laden sack worth £50 to a school or nursery of the winners’ choice.
To enter the competition, all you need to do is tell us which children’s book you’d love to give to a child this Christmas and why tagging Scholastic and using the hashtag #GiveABook. The three winners will be able to nominate their chosen school or nursery to receive a £50 credit to their Scholastic account, which can be exchanged for free books. Entries need to be made by midnight on Friday 16th December.
