REVIEW: Christmas Green Garland from ChristmasLightsEtc.co.uk

December 7, 2013

In my ‘day job’ I am an administrator for a small community hospital and every year at the beginning of December I play the role of a Christmas fairy. I, along with a few others transform the ward in a festive wonderland, for both patients and visitors to enjoy. It is a role that I am more than happy to complete each year and it usually takes a good six hours or so.

Each year we are always looking for new ways to add or change our Christmas display to make it either more user-friendly or that little bit more welcoming and homely for those who are going to be spending the festive season with us.

One of our problem areas has been the bannisters in our main corridor leading into the ward. Previously we have had tinsel, but that soon unravels itself. Then we tried a homemade garland with berries and holly, but it was too small to really make an impact. When Christmas Lights etc. got in touch to ask if I’d like to review something from their website I replied and asked if would be possible to have something for my ward instead of adding a little something for my home. Luckily they agreed and kindly sent over four 9ft green garlands.

When the delivery arrived I popped it onto the ward to show one of the other Christmas fairies and to say they were impressed is somewhat of an understatement. The extra thick green garland comes in 9ft long lengths which can either be tied together at each end to extend the length or cut to size depending on where you are looking to place the garlands.

As the garland is thick and plush it would look great on its own or with lights threaded through it. Unfortunately, we are unable to have Christmas lights wires trailing away (health & safety and all that) so we opted to add a few trimmings and I have to say they really do look beautiful.

At just £14.99 each, they really make a feature of our bannisters and make the entrance to the ward warm and inviting. I can just imagine placing the garlands trailing up a stair bannister, on top of a mantelpiece or even used outdoors, there are so many ways in which you could dress it that the possibilities for a simple green garland are endless.

A big thank you to ChristmasLightsEtc.co.uk for kindly donating the green garlands to my local community hospital, both the staff and patients are very grateful.
