Travelling to London is something I quite enjoy, hopping onboard a train and dashing off to the big smoke for a day or two. I’ve always loved travelling and getting the opportunity to head off to our capital city always brings a smile to my face.
When it comes to staying in London there is a wide variety of places you can opt for, not wishing to be in central London I opted for North London with its great transport links direct into the city for when I needed to attend my events. Premier Inn has a range of hotels available and it was London Archway that had space available and just minutes away from the underground.
Premier Inn London Archway
Location
Premier Inn London Archway is located on a busy junction on the A1 Archway, however, don’t let this put you off booking. The hotel is situated so that the noise is reduced as much as possible, in fact, I didn’t note any noise from the road outside.
The hotel is located in a large building with a bank on the ground floor. The reception along with the Thyme restaurant is on the first floor both easily accessed by stairs or a lift. Currently, parking is limited to disabled bays only due to building works going on in the local area.
Twin Room
As I was staying London with the lovely Mandi from Hexmum I requested a twin room, which I had realised at the time meant a double and a single bed. So for that brief moment, we did look at each other and think ‘who gets the big bed’ but I opted for the single bed. The great thing about Premier Inn beds is that you don’t have to have the main bed in order to get a good night’s sleep, the single beds are just as comfortable (and I slept like a baby).
Premier Inn rooms have seen an overhaul in recent years and whilst I quite liked them before they have truly been brought up to date with clean, sleek bathrooms with towels and hand wash/shower gel included within your room price. Tea and coffee facilities are also included as well as a large flat screen TV and desk area, which is perfect if you are travelling for business or as in impromptu table if you feel like eating in your room.
Restaurant
Located within the London Archway hotel is a Thyme restaurant which serves a full selection of meals which can be bought as part of a meal deal package (dinner and breakfast). Arriving late we decided that we just needed to slip on out PJ’s and vegetate in front of the TV in our room so we didn’t manage to see the restaurant until breakfast.
I have to say it was worth the wait. I loved the selection of tables and chairs, complete with little areas for you to sit and enjoy a coffee etc before you started the day. It offers a homely feel for those away from home rather than a canteen feel which you can often find.
Breakfast is the best way to start the day and a Premier Inn breakfast caters for everyone. Whether you prefer an English breakfast or a continental there is something to help you get going for the day ahead. Recent changes to the menu have added some delicious treats from bubble ‘n’ squeak, black pudding, bagels and flapjacks. Priced at just £8.99 it’s represents great value and for each paying adult up to two children eat free so amazing value for families.
Boo Roo and Tigger Too’s thoughts…
I do love a Premier Inn, they are our hotel of choice when we are travelling with the children as I know that the rooms will be clean, tidy and a good size to fit us all in. It did feel a little strange to be staying in one without the children, however, it made me appreciate the size of the room much more with no toys, extra luggage and beds.
Premier Inn rooms offer a clean, comfortable stay with all the facilities you need at hand. London Archway has air conditioning which was much-needed after a busy day in London and travelling around the underground. I would like to see a larger area in order to blow dry your hair and do makeup etc as there is only a small ledge in which to sit everything on (first world problems).
