If you are anything like me it is sometimes every easy to be quite blinkered as to what is happening passed your own front door. We all have our issues and balls to juggle etc., heck the challenge of raising well rounded children isn’t one that necessarily a smooth road. It is also easy to forget just how lucky we are and in turn how lucky our children are, unfortunately not all children as lucky. Plan UK have just launched their Give Up 2 Give Back Campaign which aims to help some of the world’s poorest children.
Who are Plan UK?
Plan UK work around the world in developing and third world countries to help improve the lives of the world’s poorest children. They do this through building hospitals and schools, installing fresh water supplies and much more, using money provided through child sponsorship.
What is the Give Up 2 Give Back Campaign?
This year Plan are hoping to increase the number of child sponsors through a campaign called Give Up to Give Back. They’re encouraging people to give up some of the small things in their lives that they could do without and re-invest the money they have saved in making a massive difference to a child’s life through child sponsorship. All it takes is £3.50 a week.
How Boo Roo and Tigger Too are helping
When I was first asked what we could give up in order to give back I didn’t think that there was anything we could cut back on as we don’t really have that many luxuries. It was actually as we came out of school that I realised just where I could cut back… our little sweetie treat after school. Once or twice a week we will pop into the shop across the road from Roo and Tigger’s school and grab a treat for the walk home. Whilst this might not sound a lot but when you take into consideration that a packet of chocolate buttons is 63p for one small packet!
So in a bid to save money so we can sponsor a child I am cutting out our little trips to the shop, instead I will pack some fruit in my bag that we eat on the way home.
How can you help?
- Think about what little thing you could give up each week and instead of spending that money on a coffee, a magazine or a sweet treat why not sponsor a child for just £3.50 a week.
- Sign up to sponsor a child via the Plan UK website here: http://ow.ly/tdt2h
- Sit back and rest assure that you are helping a child, whom you will received updates from throughout the year.
Disclosure: I am working with Plan UK to highlight their Give Up 2 Give Back Campaign
