Last year when we renovated upstairs both Roo’s bedroom and our bedroom received a transformation. With the fresh, smooth plaster walls painted, new carpets laid and new furniture bought the rooms look 100% better than they ever did. Tigger’s room however stayed the same, exactly how it was decorated in preparation for the arrival of Roo almost 8 years ago.
The walls are a neutral cream and chocolate as we didn’t know what flavour Roo was going to be, the carpet is beige and all in all it has stood the test of time. With Tigger turning four later this year and no more babies planned in the Boo Roo and Tigger Too future I have started to think about changing his once nursery into a more boy friendly room.
Furniture
Tigger as the youngest has all the mismatch furniture that has been passed between ourselves, Roo and finally Tigger. Roo has the STUVA storage range from IKEA which is really practical and child friendly. I just need to work out which combination will work best in his small room before I order.
Bed
Tigger still sleeps in his cotbed, which is fine he fits in it perfectly well however it does kind of scream ‘baby bed’ at you. I want to try and get him a new bed however as he has the ‘box room’ it is a small space and I don’t want a bed to dominate the space. Ideally I’d like a bed that will fit along the short side of his room, this would then leave more floor space from him to play with his toys etc.
I’m not too worried about style, white would be preferred as it will match the furniture… so if you know of any sites with smaller than average beds please let me know.
Accessories
Tigger has always been a fan of different transport, from trains, planes to cars, so I’m thinking of adding some cool accessories to brighten up the space. Starting with a good quality rug as he plays on the carpet quite a lot so I need it to be durable as well as fun. My Rug Store have a great range of kid’s rugs that I wish I had known about when did Roo’ bedroom, anyway, they have a Cars rug which will be perfect for his new look room and is available in three different sizes, although I think the 82×160 cm will be big enough.
I’ve seen some great sites that offer a variety of wall stickers which I hope will jazz up the walls once I have painted them a pale blue. Becky & Lolo have some wonderful kid’s wall stickers but I can’t decide whether to get him the road and car wall stickers or a funky border to go around the room.
What else do you think I need to transform his nursery to boys bedroom?
Disclosure: This post is brought to you in collaboration with My Rug Store, although I really do need to transform his nursery into a boys bedroom.
