The Beautiful Landscapes
Namibia boasts some of the most jaw-droppingly gorgeous landscapes on the planet. One example is Sossusvlei, where you’ll see awe-inspiring red sand dunes that tower over everything – you can get some impressive photos here that won’t need any filters to make them beautiful. For a truly magical experience, take a hot air balloon ride over the Namib Desert at sunrise, and don’t forget to head to the Skeleton Coast which is a lot lovelier than its name suggests; this is where the Atlantic Ocean meets the desert.
One of the best ways to see as much of the scenery as possible in Namibia is the use Rovos Rail to travel across the country. You’ll have a luxurious adventure and you won’t have to miss a thing.
Wildlife Encounters
Namibia is home to an incredible array of different animals, making it the ideal spot for wildlife lovers. In Etosha National Park, for example, you can go on exciting game drives where you’ll see majestic elephants, graceful giraffes, and mighty lions. Take a guided tour to the remote Kuene area where you’ll see elephants that have adapted to live in the desert, plus you’ll get to see the indigenous Himba people, an experience that not many people get to enjoy.
If birds are more your thing, the Caprivi Strip is the place to go, with its lush wetlands and abundant birdlife.
Cultural Diversity
We’ve mentioned the Himba above, and this is just the start when it comes to the cultural diversity you can experience in Namibia. The Himba are known for their distinctive red ochre body paint and elaborate jewellery. Still, you can also learn about the traditions of the San Bushmen and join in with their wonderful storytelling and traditional dancing.
Another exciting idea would be to visit the coastal town of Swakopmund. Perhaps surprisingly, you’ll see plenty of German history here, with colonial architecture and museums, and there is also a thriving art scene.

Some countries in Africa have a poor reputation regarding safety, and tourists can worry that their adventure won’t turn out well. However, Namibia is well-known for being one of the safest countries in Africa, with low crime rates and a stable political environment.
