Greetings from Malaga!

Spain’s sixth largest city, Malaga has plenty to offer those who visit. Most who come here are firmly focused on Malaga’s beaches, which are simply beautiful, the area’s spectacular golf courses or its abundant nautical and equine pursuits. However, Malaga also has plenty more to offer, with a host of cultural attractions. It seems that visitors are now getting wise to that fact and spending more time taking in some culture in Malaga, as well as working on their tans.

Cultural tourism is on the increase across Spain. According to Weekenddesk, visitor numbers to cultural attractions this summer rose by 23% compared to 2017. Tourists have spent the summer months delighting in the country’s museums, galleries and theatres. In Malaga, they have particularly enjoyed the Centre for Contemporary Art, Nerja Caves and the Picasso Museum (Andalucia’s most successful gallery).

Malaga’s architectural offering is superb. The Moorish Alcazaba palace has seen visitor numbers grow by almost 30% since 2015. Visitors to Malaga Cathedral have increased by 46% over the same period. Gibralfaro Castle is also attracting tourists in their droves. Every way you turn, the city is awash with outstanding cultural pursuits.

The Costa del Sol enjoys international renown for its beaches. Now, it’s making headlines for its cultural attractions too. Malaga has a thriving artistic community, which venues like the CAC do much to inspire. When we show visitors around our local developments, such as the lovely townhouses at Green Golf, Estepona, it’s a real pleasure to share details of Malaga’s cultural side. The city is diverse and enchanting – there’s so much more to it than you might assume, given its reputation as a ‘sunshine break’ destination. It’s a city packed with year-round attractions that will delight visitors of all ages. Why not come and see for yourself!

Best wishes from Malaga!
