May 18, 2017

Just because you have a small garden, it does not mean that you cannot turn it into an inspiring place, and you can get lots of excellent ideas on the Good Housekeeping website to get you started. There are lots of things that you can do with a small garden to create an intimate, warm, and inviting place for you and your family to relax. The important thing is to match your garden with your lifestyle and choose something that will make you happy, and that you have the time and energy to maintain.

A Grass Free Garden

Not everyone has green fingers and enjoys cutting the grass, so if this sounds like you, you may wish to opt for a lawn-free garden. You can put down decking, flagstones, or cover the area in gravel, which can make for a striking but easy to maintain garden. You could put down artificial turf and have a border around your garden filled with gravel, placing potted plants at intervals around the edges. Easy to maintain and it still gives you a stunning view, as well as a functional area to use.

Storage Solutions For Outdoors

One way to make sure that you can keep your garden tidy is to have some outdoor storage where you can keep any tools or garden furniture when they are not in use. You can also store your BBQ, as well as the kid’s bikes, and a quick search on the internet will show many garden sheds for sale in a variety of shapes, sizes, and which suit all budgets. A quality garden shed can help to transform your garden and turn it into a place that all of the family want to spend time.

Comfortable And Relaxing Furniture

One way to ensure that everyone feels relaxed when they are in your garden is to have some lawn furniture which is comfortable. There is a lot of different types of furniture available for the outside of your home, and you can even get items that are weatherproof. If you get chairs or sofas for outside and the cushions are not waterproof, make sure that you store them in your garden shed when they are not in use to keep them in good condition. The more comfortable the outside of your home is, the more time you and your family will spend in the garden, so it can be a worthwhile investment in getting quality garden furniture, and looking after it properly.

Keeping Warm

For those evenings when the temperature drops slightly, you can add a fire pit to your home which will let you keep warm, no matter how cold it gets. You will want to make sure that your furniture is fire-retardant, and even so keep it at a safe distance from the fire to prevent damage or accidents.

No matter what size your garden is, with some creativity and careful planning you can create a superb environment outside of your home for all of the family to enjoy. Design your garden today and spend the summer with your family enjoying your private and personal retreat.
