It can be hard to keep the kids entertained throughout the six weeks holidays and with all your techniques to keep them busy starting to wear off as the holidays come to an end, London’s has introduced its first maker festival – MAKEMOREl! Celebrating the maker movement, the family-friendly festival will bring together more than 100 artists, crafters, cooks and musicians – a perfect day out for you and the little ones!
MAKEMORE Festival combines hands on workshops with makers such as Aardman, Barn the Spoon and Turning Earth, demos from acclaimed food writers and live music, stand-up comedy and a series of talks. The five-day festival in Victoria Park will take place during the bank holiday weekend of Thursday 23rd – Monday 27th August.
The craft festival is for both experienced creatives and those who just want to get stuck in, this is an opportunity for all to get hands-on and explore all kinds of activities without additional hefty fees or add-ons.
Festival-goers are invited to take part in a wide variety of unique activities, including bushcraft with The Exploration Society, bee keeping with Bermondsey Street Bees, and even clay modelling with the creators of Wallace and Gromit, Aardman Animations. MAKEMORE has also partnered with the culinary talents of award-winning food writer, Charlotte Pike, River Cottage’s Steven Lamb and Masterchef winner Dhruv Baker for a mouth-watering array of food classes and demonstrations.
The festival is topped off with a lively mix of comedy, cabaret, puppetry and immersive theatre. They also have the Little Angel Theatre and Polka Theatre to run kid’s maker workshops and performances to run throughout the day. With face painting, a funfair and ice cream, ensured to make happy kids!
