With Tigger starting school has meant that I have had to explain Tigger’s eating habits. It has meant that I’ve had to explain his quirks around food being cut in a particular way. It has meant trying to explain that I am not ‘that‘ mum who is just pandering to her child but instead I am ‘that‘ mum who wants her child to eat at snack time and enjoy their packed lunch.
Whilst I have worried what starting a new school would mean for Tigger, with new teachers and rules it appears that they ‘get‘ him. They understand his reluctance and have encouraged him to join in food based activities like joining to the local shop, buying different types of fruit, cutting them up and preparing a fruit salad.
Now whilst Tigger wouldn’t eat the prepared fruit salad he did lick the different fruits which given that he will only eat bananas, apples and pears is a big deal. Something that the teachers recognised and gave him a special sticker and lots of praise.
I’m hoping that this fabulous start to the school year continues.
