Each month I share my #littleloves, a chance to reflect on the things that I have read, watched, heard and made. As well as highlighting what I’ve worn and any other highlights in my life. It’s not about the big things, it’s about all those small little loves that make up everyday life.
Time to share this month’s #LittleLoves… There is no doubting that Spring is here, from the beautiful blossom on the trees, the relatively good weather and of course, Easter celebrations. It’s amazing the difference that the brighter days can make to our attitude and approach to the day ahead. Life will always be busy but I’ve been attempting to be more present at the moment rather than overwhelmed by the list of things I need to complete.
This month’s #LittleLoves…
Read
Feeling the pinch in our household budget I have taken the decision to cancel my Kindle Unlimited subscription. Although I do make the most of the books I’m able to download I do have a collection of books that I have bought/received that are sitting in my Kindle account awaiting to be read.
With new books from the Midnight Dynasty World being released this year following the various members of the Morelli and Constantine families, I have been chasing up on some of the series within the collection so that I’m up to date. I’ve made a start on this task by reading the Dark Temptation Trilogy.
Watched
Late to the party of some of the Netflix series that have been released in recent months. What The Dad Said and I have been watching a few episodes in the evening after his late shifts.
Tiger King Series 2
Having found the first series somewhat fascinating I knew that I’d want to watch the second series, however, I was underwhelmed by it. Feeling as though it was centred more around whether Carol Baskin killed her husband rather than the tiger parks and even Joe Exotic. So many conspiracy theories about what she has been up to, if someone set Joe up and then what the new owners of Joe’s zoo were getting up to.
Tiger King: The Doc Antle Story
Somewhat familiar with the eccentric tiger zo owner Doc Antle from the original Tiger King series. This series of episodes followed his life from Yogaville, multiple wives, underage affairs and his passion for animals. Quite eye-opening what happened throughout the years and disturbing that nothing was ever done about it.
Jimmy Savile: A British Horror Story
As a child of the 80s, I grew up watching Jimmy Savile on TV. Even writing into the Jim’ll Fix It show – how glad I am that he never contacted me! Following the episodes throughout the series, it was easy to see how he fooled the wider public with his life and the actions he was doing.
Listening to interviews he’d given across the years I can now see the somewhat gloating side of him as he made comments and jokes, which in reality was him making the truth sound as though it were a joke. So much sadness for the brave victims who came out before his death but were not believed or had their concerns swept under the carpet.
Many have questioned why the victims waited until he died for so many others to come forward but I can completely understand their choice in waiting. Heartbreaking to hear their stories and can only hope that speaking out has helped ease some of the pain.
Heard
For many years I have followed the lives of several large families in America. Watching their reality TV shows, gaining a small glimpse into their lives. The Duggar family is one of the families I have swallowed from when they only had 14 children. Several scandals have plagued their eldest son Joshua Duggar over the years. This resulted in a federal court case last December and he was convicted of two child pornography counts.
Whilst the case was covered in the press I found a series of podcasts by The SoJo Files Duggar Trial podcast on Spotify who attended the trial each day and too many notes and read them out within the episodes. I found it fascinating to listen to the process but utterly devastating and heartbreaking for the victims involved.
I’d certainly look into listening to another crime style podcast.
Wore
One of the things that mam always did when I was younger was to teat us to a new outfit for Easter. Something that I have continued with my own children, with piglet loving her Spring Frugi skater dress. I have so many photos of her in this dress over the holidays that it looks like she never wore anything else – but I promise you I have washed it several times!
Made
At the start of the year, I decided to create a dedicated book blog, Totally Booked. Whilst I liked sharing my reviews on Instagram, I found that I wasn’t very consistent at posting. Loving the dedicated space to write about the books that both I have enjoyed and the ones that the children have been reading. Having this dedicated space has inspired me to start not one but two new sites this month.
Firstly, Organise A Wedding which as you can guess is all about weddings. Having a number of wedding-related articles on my existing sites which are diluted by other subjects I thought it would be nice to have one site that incorporated all things weddings – from engagement, wedding planning and honeymoons.
Secondly, 10 Things To Do, is a travel inspiration blog which will feature a mixture of travel destinations from around the world. Whether it is a specific attraction, location or county/state or a wider country. I’m hoping to showcase a variety of places you might wish to visit.
Lastly
The Easter holidays didn’t quite go to plan as we were hit by the fuel crisis which meant that we had to cancel our adventures to Blackpool. However, I did manage to spend a one on one day with Piglet, doing all the things she wanted such as taking the bus into the city, and sitting on the top deck, right at the front. As well as a trip to the cinema, lunch together, shopping and a visit to the Norfolk & Norwich Millenium Library. Such a wonderful #LittleLoves to spend time with just one of the children, I am going to plan to have a special day with one of them each month.
