Usually, we are counting down the days until the half-term holidays. A chance to reconnect as a family and enjoy some family adventures. With life in lockdown continuing our half term holidays has been very different to those we have enjoyed in previous years. Although it’s always nice to have the children at home, the snow week we enjoyed last week has allowed us additional family time.

Pancake day

Pancakes are quite possibly one of Roo’s all-time favourite foods. Happy to enjoy them any time of the year but especially on pancake day. With What The Dad Said making Roo and Piglet a batch of pancakes to be enjoyed with Nutella. Whilst he enjoyed some with maple syrup, sadly it’s not one of the foods that Tigger will eat so he missed out – alongside me who was at work.

Photo memories

Each morning my phone alerts me to my photo memories, be it via Facebook or my photos app on my Google Pixel phone. Highlighting memories that I had potentially forgotten about as well as days out we have previously enjoyed. A bittersweet showcase this week highlighting the fun we had at Diggerland Yorkshire and ROARR Dinosaur Adventure last year whilst Roo was skiing with the school in Italy. Sadly, no new adventures to be added this year with life in lockdown at home continuing.

Happy mail

Piglet is possibly our most creative child, one that is happiest when she is drawing, colouring or utilising her imagination with cardboard boxes. Having decided to draw some masterpieces for family members this week she was excited to head out to the local post box to send off some happy mail.

Long hours

Having previously booked the half-term holiday off work, What The Dad Said was able to enjoy time at home with the kiddies this week. Which left me open to taking on some additional hours to cover those who were on holiday etc. I hadn’t exactly planned on working 54 hours this week but it’s done and dusted. Thankfully my shifts tend to pass by relatively quickly so at least I don’t feel as though they are dragging by.

Half-term holidays

It’s been a funny half-term life in lockdown holidays. The combination of having had a snow week last week and not being able to go anywhere or do anything has left us with a very different time to the one we would usually enjoy. Although the children have enjoyed stepping away from their studies to indulge in things around the house and time spent together.
