Life In Lockdown… Throughout the lockdown, I had been looking forward to this week. Marking the children’s first full week of the summer holidays. As well as What The Dad Said’s first holiday since the February half term having worked throughout the lockdown. A much-needed chance for us to reconnect and enjoy time together.
Life In Lockdown {Week 20}
“You can’t add more days to your life,
But you can add more life to your days”
Back on the road again
The summer holidays usually spark a day on / day off family adventure schedule. Attempting to squeeze in as many things as possible together. A mixture if the lockdown, available funds and fatigue meant that we only enjoyed two trips out this week. Visiting Chessington World of Adventures and Legoland to take advantage of our Merlin Annual Passes.
Whilst it felt very strange to be back on the road again. It did give us a chance to reacquaint ourselves with travelling, Amazon Music and for Piglet to test drive her new Diono Everett NXT car seat – so odd to only see one car seat in the back of the car now that Tigger no longer requires a high back booster.
Two fun-filled days with rides, animals and donuts. Seeing the children’s faces was so worth the anxiety over whether we were doing the right thing about heading back out into the real world again.
Master builder
We are a LEGO family with us all loving those colourful interlocking bricks. Our visit to Legoland has really inspired Piglet who has spent the days following creating buildings and characters utilising Roo’s old collection of LEGO Friends. As well as raiding Tigger’s box of random LEGO pieces. After seeing how well she has played I picked up a LEGO Trolls playset that was half price in the supermarket whilst doing the shopping for her.
Roo’s bedroom makeover
Planned many months ago with almost everything needed hiding away in my wardrobe. I took the opportunity to give Roo’s bedroom a makeover whilst she spent some time with her cousin. I’m really pleased with how it turned out – if I do say so myself. It makes me want to transform the other rooms in the house too.
Feeling hot, hot, hot
Although Monday was a little dreary (just in time for our trip to Chessington) the rest of the week has been hot, hot, hot. The sun might not have always been shining, but the temperatures have still been high. As a northerner I don’t fair well in the heat – sleeping has been very difficult to say the least.
Retreating into books
An overwhelming week last week has sent me retreating into the pages, words and storylines of books. Escaping the real world for a few hours and withdrawing my thoughts and anxieties. My slice of self-care when I’m not able to deal with the realities of life.
