With Piglet recently celebrating her first birthday, I can no longer listen to the ‘oh, but you’ve just had a baby‘ responses whenever I moan about how I look. It’s time I became less of a frumpy mummy and at least attempt to lean closer to the yummy mummy category.
Whilst I still have some pounds to lose and quite a bit of toning to do, I need to make a start. Wearing my stretched and baggy clothes aren’t doing me any favours. I need to start dressing for the size that I am, not the size I was. Whilst in my head I don’t want to go out and buy a wardrobe full of clothes as I’m not the size I want to be, I do need to grab some essentials.
Treggings – As a lady with bigger thighs I have never really felt comfortable wearing skinny jeans. Opting to live in bootcut or boyfriend jeans, however, as I’m short these make me look even shorter and stumpy at the same time. Opting for something a little less restricting than a skinny cut, treggings from H&M are the solution I have been looking for. They give me shape and definition with comfort and stretch so that I can still function in everyday life.
Knitwear – Wishing to keep my wobbly bits firmly under wraps I do tend to wear baggy tops. Opting for a longer style so that I can attempt to cover my bum too. They are warm and practical but flattering… er nope. So after a clear out of my wardrobe, I am replacing them with much more funky knitwear like this zipped back jumper from JD Williams or the harbour style top from Joules.
Boots – I tend to live in boots, however, they are all very practical pairs. Looking for something that is still practical but stylish at the same time I fell in love with the Brielle Hip boots from Clarks. With a wedge heel, they offer me support when I’m on my feet for long periods. Whilst the stylish design will look great partnered with treggings, jeans or even thick tights and a dress.
Wish me luck in going from frumpy mummy to yummy ish mummy
Disclosure: I received a pair of Clarks Brielle Hip boots FOC for the purpose of review,
although I really do need to get my act together.
