As a parent do you ever feel like you are reliving your childhood through your children? I know I do. Any opportunity to head out on adventures and you’ll find either myself or Mr Boo (or both of us) just as excited as the children. With three children in different age groups, it can be a little tricky arranging adventures that all three will enjoy. LEGOLAND Windsor, however, is one of the places that is guaranteed to pop a smile on everyone’s faces.
The weekend finally saw our attempts to visit LEGOLAND Windsor bringing a whole new meaning to third time lucky. With two previous attempts falling on snow days (*shakes a fist at the Beast from the East and the mini version too). We arrived to find the sun shining (making up for all the bad weather we’d experienced in recent weeks) and a host of much-loved rides, alongside some new attractions waiting for us to explore.
LEGO Ninjago 4D Movie
Whilst the LEGO Ninjago series has always been a favourite of Tigger’s, the release of the LEGO Ninjago Movie last year really upped his interest in the ninjas. The Imagination Theatre at LEGOLAND Windsor is currently home to the LEGO Ninjago 4D Movie. With showings available throughout the day, however, you need to check the listings outside of the theatre on the day to confirm timings.
I won’t give the storyline away however I will say that the trainee ninjas go against Sensei Wu’s advice – which is never a good thing. Lessons to be learnt and teamwork required.
One of the things we love about visiting the Imagination Theatre for a 4D experience is that depending on where you sit, depends on how much you get involved with the experience. So whilst Tigger is happy to sit and watch the screening, he doesn’t particularly want to get wet. By sitting in the side seats you don’t get wet but are still able to enjoy the rest of the effects.
LEGO Reef
Alongside the range of different rides at LEGOLAND Windsor, there is also a selection of interactive areas where children (and adults) are able to get hands-on with LEGO. The new LEGO Reef area is just one of these areas. Perfect for slowing the pace down a little and given that one wall is covered in a projected underwater adventure, it is very calming in there.
The LEGO Reef provides the opportunity to build your own creations and showcase them on the shelves around the room. Or take things to the next level by building your very own LEGO fish, selecting the colour options and then watching to see it appear on the big screen ahead of you.
Miniland USA
Set in the heart of LEGOLAND Windsor is the famous Miniland. Showcasing some of the amazing landmarks from across the world. This year they have added new landmarks, with Miniland USA featuring the iconic Route 66, the White House, the Hollywood sign and many more. Take a walk around to see the attention to detail in each and every building, as well as the minifigures, cars and accessories around them.
Book tickets to visit LEGOLAND Windsor
Why not book your tickets to LEGOLAND Windsor to take a look at these attractions for yourself as well as enjoy all the other areas and attractions available within the park. Don’t forget to pop into the different shops throughout the park to stock up on LEGO essentials – they’ll even take it to the main Big Shop for you to collect on the way home.
Disclosure: We received complimentary entry to LEGOLAND Windsor for the purpose of review
