Taking on a landscaping project to improve your outdoor space is exciting, but it’s important to work with the right people in order to make sure the finished product is exactly as you’d imagined it. If you’ve decided to change your garden or driveway to suit your lifestyle and family dynamic better, then it’s crucial you have an installer who understands your needs.

Landscaping projects, no matter how big or small, can transform your outdoor space with fresh designs, colours and texture when it comes to paving and the driveway. Brett Landscaping, which has their own approved installer scheme, offer some top tips on how to find the right installer for your upcoming project.

Find an installer first

If you already have an idea of what you’d like your outdoor space to look like, that’s great. However, the right installer can help you with planning and designs, so don’t set everything in stone right away. Your chosen installer might surprise you with a few ideas you’d never thought of, including advice on suitable products.

This gives you an opportunity to combine your knowledge of your outdoor space and needs, with their expertise in the landscaping industry.

Good installers are usually booked up

If you find an installer you like but they can’t fit you in for a few months, don’t be put off. This means they are popular and good at what they do! A good installer will need to schedule your project in advance, so it pays to be patient. Unless it’s due to a cancellation or other unexpected circumstance, be wary of installers who can fit you in straight away.

What’s more, planning your outdoor space can take time. A good installer will want plenty of time to come and see your space, plan how much time the project will take and ensure they can get all materials and manpower in time.

Ask to see previous work

Before deciding on a final quote or company to do the work, make sure you see some of their previous workmanship. The installer should be able to provide examples of similar projects they can show you, to give you an idea of what they have completed in the past.

Similarly, look online to see if they have any testimonials or reviews for you to look at, as this can give you an indication of their quality of work as well as punctuality and tidiness.

Check their accreditation

In most cases, workmen are part of an accreditation scheme, including landscapers. This can give you an indication of their professionalism and quality of work, as many schemes often provide training, access to materials and additional support.

Finding an installer that is part of an accreditation scheme can give you peace of mind that your chosen company is reputable and good at what they do.

Get full contact details

When you are collecting quotes from potential installers, be sure to look at the contact details they give you. Just a mobile number could raise a red flag, but a telephone number with an office address and contact name can provide a much more professional impression.
