This morning I dropped Roo off at school, no problems
Popped to the post office and walked home, just put the brakes on the pushchair… ‘Is that my mobile ringing? OMG it’s Lady Gaga!’ (Roo’s ringtone… that’s a different story)
School: Hello, is that Roo’s Mum?
Me: Yes
School: Hello it’s Mrs L, Roo is upset, I asked if it was about her Granny (I told them yesterday about my mum moving and that she might be upset) but she said no, she misses you
Me: I think she is worried that everyone is leaving her
School: Girls are like that, did you want to speak to her?
Me: Please… Hello darling, are you ok?
Roo: NO!!! (cue lots of tears)
Me: What’s wrong?
Roo: I just miss you soooo much
Me: Oh baby girl, I’ll see you at story cafe this afternoon
Roo: (mumbles but can’t understand due to the tears)
Me: Can I speak to Mrs L… Do you want me to come pick her up?
School: I’m sure she’ll be ok
Me: I did tell her I was coming to story cafe this afternoon
School: (Mrs L explaining to Roo that mummy was coming to story cafe) She seems to have calmed down now, I’ll ring you if there are anymore problems
Me: Thank you
I hung up and felt awful, my poor baby girl is heart broken and thinks that everyone is leaving her. Since I told her about her Granny on Thursday evening she has been clingy and quiet. It’s hitting her so hard and I don’t know how to make it better for her.
So when I got to story cafe this afternoon I gave her a sticker to say well done for staying at school and I have told her that she will get one everyday she stays at school and does not ring mummy. Fingers crossed that this will work for the short term
