If you are anything like me you will be happily printing away when the warning box appears at the bottom of the screen or even on the printer to highlight that the ink is running low. I make a mental note to add it to the shopping list and then continue with whatever I was doing at the time. Fast forward to the next time I need to print photos, school projects or colouring sheets for the Roo and Tigger and that warning box appears again, oops I forgot to get the ink I’ll get it tomorrow. Of course I forget to get it the next day and always when I absolutely need to print something off to I realise that there is a red light on and there is no ink left to print.
Imagine a service that would speak directly with your printer and deliver ink when it was getting low… HP Instant Ink is a ground breaking new ink replacement service that delivers HP Original Ink to a customer’s door before they run out, whilst saving UK consumers up to 70 percent on ink costs. Designed for cost-effective convenience, Instant Ink uses smart printers to wirelessly monitor when registered households are running low on ink, and delivers a new ink cartridge to their home or business address.

HP Instant Ink monthly price plans
By signing up for the HP Instant Ink program, customers are able to print black and white or colour documents and photos for as little as £1.99 per month, with plans based on pages printed, not amount of ink used.
A tiered pricing model is available and unused pages roll over from month to month, although they can never exceed the total pages of the current plan to which a customer is subscribed (50, 100 or 300 pages).
Users can also adjust their plan to their needs or cancel the plan at any time, meaning they will always have ink when they need it.
For those ad-hoc months when a few additional pages are required, customers can also pay an additional fee of just £1 to release 15, 20 or 25 pages against the consecutive tariffs listed below.
Boo Roo and Tigger Too’s thoughts…
Enabling our HP ENvy 4500 to the HP Instant Ink service was really straightforward, simply contacting the call centre registering our enrolment card then finally setting up an account online at hp.com/instantink. Now I never have to worry about running out running out of ink and will the summer coming up Roo and Tigger will no doubt have me printing activity packs, colouring sheets and fabulous photos from our family days out.
Personally I love that you are able to cancel the service when you know you are not going to need it for a month or so, plus the ability to increase/decrease capacity as required (great for the run up to Christmas and I’m printing lots of photos to send to friends and family).
Business may benefit from using a managed print services and document management software to save the hassles that go along with the upkeep of running a printer. From making sure you have replacement ink to breakdowns as you need your printer back up and running as soon as possible.
Disclosure: We have received a year’s access to HP Instant Ink FOC for the purpose of review.
