A mixture of nesting and being sick and tired of our home renovations has made me determined to get things organised and finished as soon as possible.
Painting
Sadly we didn’t really think about how much work would be involved in painting the living room, dining room, kitchen along with the woodwork etc. so under budgeted the cost to pay for this work to be completed. As we can’t afford to spend any more on the painting we are now going to have to carry out this work ourselves.
Having made a list at the weekend of all the paint and supplies that we would need I headed over to B&Q last night after work/school to purchase everything. Today I have made a start on the mammoth task sanding and priming the skirting boards – not an easy task at the best of times but with my baby bump in the way it is making it that bit more difficult.
Carpets
We order new carpets for the living and dining room over the August bank holiday weekend from Carpetright which allowed us to take advantage of their free fitting offer. The fitting date has been delayed three times due to issues with the plasterers and now us needing to paint. Fingers crossed the carpets should be fitted next week (assuming that we have finished all the painting!).
Radiator cover
The radiator in the living room is along the main entrance wall and with no furniture in front of it, it looks ugly. I’m wondering whether to add a radiator cover to make it look more visually appealing.
Window dressings
I haven’t managed to decided on what to do with the windows in the living and dining rooms. I want a blind of some kind along with curtains. I’m determined to banish the net curtains that have been hung at the windows since we moved in.
I’ve been looking at wooden venetian blinds and vertical blinds but can’t quite decided whether they need to match each other to make the ground floor more united or whether to opt for something different in each room.
Decoration
As we are contemplating moving in the near future in order to have more space for Piglet etc. we are keeping the walls quite neutral. In order for the rooms to feel quite homely I’m looking at different soft furnishings, lamps and free-standing frames.
I think that is all, phew!
Wish us luck and I’ll update you as soon as to how we’re getting on
