Checking in on a new mum to see whether they’re feeling good is always important, as the risk of experiencing things like postnatal depression and the effects of isolation is constant. You could plan a video call so that you get to see each other’s facial expressions, as this makes it more personal (and you may be able to see whether they’re struggling, even if they don’t have the courage to let you know).
