Over the years we have read many books as a family. From when the children were very young one of the books that each of them has loved has been The Gruffalo, and subsequently The Gruffalo’s Child and The Stick Man stories. We have enjoyed the story time and time again, watched the animated film and played with the plush characters reacting the story.
With Tigger especially loving the characters from the book, I was pleased when Magic Light Pictures contacted us to see whether we would like to try out their new Gruffalo Puzzles app.
Gruffalo Puzzles App
Based on ‘The Gruffalo’, the classic children’s picture book written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated Axel Scheffler. The Gruffalo Puzzles app features six character-led games and 18 levels that combine fun gameplay with intuitive design. Carefully developed to improve cognitive ability, working memory, logical thinking and hand-eye coordination.
The app is released by Magic Light Pictures, producers of the Oscar-nominated animations ‘The Gruffalo‘ and ‘Room on the Broom‘ as well as the ‘The Gruffalo’s Child‘ and ‘Stick Man’.
Gruffalo Puzzles App – Activities
Players can play with the Gruffalo, Mouse, Fox, Snake, Owl and even race against them all!
- Pit their memory skills against Mouse!
- Test their aim against the Gruffalo!
- Get colourful and paint with Fox!
- Help Owl fly to his treetop house!
- Slither through the maze with Snake!
- Ready, steady, go! Clear the track and race the characters!
The Gruffalo Puzzles app is aimed at 3 – 6 year olds and with each of the activities they can start on the bronze acorn and work their way up through silver, before heading on to gold. This enables the younger end of the spectrum to still be able to enjoy the games as well as the older ones too.
Tigger has opted to complete each of the three difficulties within each of the activities. Which at the top end of the age range he still needs to think about some of the gold difficulty activities – especially match the pairs game.
Gruffalo Puzzles App – Availability
Further games from Magic Light Pictures are also available from the app stores.
Boo Roo and Tigger Too’s thoughts…
Given our love of The Gruffalo, I was quietly confident that Tigger would enjoy this app. I’m pleased to say that I wasn’t wrong. The six character-led games are fun and enjoyable, keeping him interested in the app. The short activities allow him to play the app in short bursts whenever he has the chance.
Disclosure: We received access to the Gruffalo Puzzles app FOC for the purpose of review
