The Boo Roo and Tigger Too household welcomed the delivery of a HP Envy 4500 e-All-in-One Printer. I love getting new technology but I am always a little weary of how to set it up and how best to us it, so I’ve put together a little guide to how I set up our new printer and how to make the most of it.

HP Envy 4500 key features:

Setting up the printer couldn’t have been simpler, take out of the box, plug it in, add the ink cartridges, following the printed instruction sheet align the settings and then connect to your Wi-Fi network (this can be either wireless or via a LAN cable).
HP Connected
Once you have the printer all set up I would advise you to do three things, firstly, register your printer via HP Connected.
Not only will this allow you to update your printer with any future drivers but it gives you access to their apps and printables. This allows you to print off worksheets, colouring papers and even subscribe to regular printing activities, i.e. weekly origami sheets (ready to test your patience and paper folding skills).
HP Photo Creations
Secondly, HP Photo Creations, a free downloadable software package that enables to make the most of your photos.
Whether you are making cards, calendars, invitations or whatever the occasion I’m sure you can find something on there to assist you. Honestly I could spend hours on there, plus as I’m working away on my laptop I get a little pop in the corner of my screen from time to time telling me about one of their design products which usually distracts me and off I go making another calendar or photo poster etc.
HP ePrint
Finally, this is probably the one that has been most useful in the Boo Roo and Tigger Too household the HP ePrint app available from both the Apple Store and Google Play.
We have this downloaded to two android phones, 3 Android tablets and an iPad 3!
HP ePrint key features:
- Print from your smartphone or tablet locally over Wi-Fi, virtually anywhere via the Cloud to a web-connected HP ePrint printer, or directly to an HP wireless direct supported printer.
- Print photos, PDFs, web pages, and Microsoft Office documents.
- Share and print documents, photos, or content from other Android apps with HP ePrint.
- Need to print while on the go? Locate and print securely to thousands of HP Public Print Locations worldwide.
It’s one of those things that just makes life easier, generally I only switch my laptop on in the evening so when Roo’s school email me the latest newsletter or form I need to print it usually has to wait until later (and then I forget to do it!). When opening the attachment from an email on my tablet it prompts me to see whether I want to view or print straight away, which really makes my life easier. Mr Boo has found it much easier for his work too, he often needs things printing as he heads out of the door in the morning so he can simply print direct from his phone or tablet.
Plus I’m finally starting to print more photos as it is so much easier to do, great if Roo has a friend over and they have been taking selfie’s and what to take a snap home with them.
