Christmas is such a magical time of the year. The kids are excited, the parents are trying to create magical moments while not cracking under the pressures, and families come together to spend time. However, while you may be focused on the kids or getting all of those jobs ticked off your list, it is important that you get the whole family involved at Christmas. So here are some of the ways that you can do it.
Getting the family involved at Christmas
Christmas jumpers
One of the fun ways to get the whole family involved this Christmas would be to wear Christmas jumpers. You could do this for a particular day or outing, or just have similar ones that you wear together when you want to. Christmas jumpers are fun and an easy way to add a bit of Christmas cheer.
Christmas pyjamas
A great way to get the whole family involved at Christmas would be to wear Christmas pyjamas. These days you can pick up matching sets that the whole family can embrace. You could save these for Christmas eve or wear them throughout the month of December. Make sure to take some pictures.
A family Christmas eve box
You may have been made aware of the new tradition of a Christmas eve box that parents make up for their kids, but if you don’t want to do that, why not make a family one instead? You could include pyjamas in there, sweet treats, mugs that are matching and personalised, and even film suggestions. Make sure you add the Christmas traditions in there too. It doesn’t just have to be the kids that enjoy it.
Snap a family photograph
We can often get too wrapped up in preparing for Christmas that we can forget to take pictures so we have the memories to look back on. Better still, why not organise a family photoshoot? You could do it in Christmas jumpers or just dress up to have some nice pictures taken.
It could become a new Christmas tradition. Often we don’t have full family pictures so it will be a great way to capture those memories.
Delegate cooking jobs
Cooking is one of the stressful things to do when it comes to Christmas, so get the whole family involved and delegate jobs. Kids can peel vegetables, adults can do their fair share of preparation. The more people that can help, the faster it will be done.
Go to see Santa
It can be very exciting to enjoy family days out, so why not take a trip to see Santa as a family? Kids will love the magic behind it and parents will enjoy seeing their faces and experiencing it with them. You could see Santa a few times or stick with the one place you visit each year.
Book a Christmas event
There are many different Christmas events that you can enjoy throughout the month of December, so why not spend some time finding one the whole family will enjoy. It could be woodland walks or even a train ride with the big man himself. Book these in advance as often some of the more unique experiences get booked up.
Head out for festive walks
A festive walk is a great way to enjoy some time as a family and get everyone involved. If you live in an area where many people decorate the outside of their homes then it is a lovely opportunity to head out in the evening together and look at all the lights. Especially, if you have younger children.
Write letters to Santa
Another great way to get the whole family involved in letter writing to Santa. Take time, even the adults, to write letters to the kids explaining how you have been good. As an adult, you may not want to write down things you want, but it’s good practice to get the kids involved and they will enjoy telling you what to write down.
Host a Christmas party
Finally, why not host a Christmas party? This is a great way to spend some time with friends and extended family. You could have festive drinks and snacks, and enjoy some Christmas music in the background.
A party doesn’t need to be excessive, even just inviting a few people over to toast the festive season is enough. It is the ultimate way to get into the festive spirit and enjoy the time of the year.
Hopefully, this has given you plenty of ideas for some of the ways the whole family can get involved at Christmas time.
