Fun and fashionable ideas for your child’s bedroom

August 13, 2017

Decorating a kid’s bedroom is always a tricky challenge. On the one hand, you’ll want to create a look that won’t fall foul of their changing tastes, and on the other hand, you’ll want to encourage them to help with a design that is just as wild as their imagination!

So here’s a look at some ways that you can revamp your child’s bedroom without necessarily turning it into a complete free-for-all!

Get the basics right

Before you turn the whole room into a Minions-inspired shrine, you’ll need to get a few basic things right – after all, a child’s bedroom is meant to be somewhere where your child can rest and recuperate. So be sure that surfaces are clean and that the furniture is the right size for your little one.

Obviously, the bed should be the focal point of the room, and it’s important that the bed is large enough to accommodate a child’s growing body. And with companies like Bedstar offering next day delivery, there’s no excuse for not giving your child the perfect place to sleep.

Choose colour wisely

Anybody who knows how fickle a child’s tastes can be will know that an element of caution can go a long way in picking your decor. Whilst blue for boys and pink for girls has been the hallmark of kids’ bedroom decor for a long time, such colour designs are more than a little old-fashioned.

So some of these subtle shades can be a good place to start as they won’t seem too juvenile once your child grows up, and they can be easily accessorised with plenty of bright and colourful items later on.

Provide room to grow

Just as you’d pick a mattress that allows them to grow, it’s important to leave a certain amount of space in the room for your child’s growing collection of belongings.

And even if you run out of space in the wardrobe and under the bed, there are plenty of inventive storage solutions that can use anything from tote bags to buckets for keeping all of those toys safe and sound.

Temporary measures

And finally, it’s important to remember that there are plenty of cool temporary fixes that can quickly update your child’s bedroom without breaking the bank.

From using some cool wall stickers to provide some kid-friendly themes without necessarily painting an entire mural, to implementing some soft furnishings like curtains to update the look of the room, it shows that it’s not just replacing a bed that can give your child a quick and simple room makeover!
