Today I have a special guest for you on my site. Introducing Pia from Momzie App UK…
I am thrilled to be guest blogging in one of my favourite blogs, Boo Roo and Tigger too.
According to a recent study by the British Red Cross and Co-op, big life changes, like becoming a mum, can leave you feeling lonely and isolated. I know this first hand as when my son was born prematurely my life became almost unrecognisable overnight. Before baby I was a social butterfly, I had many friends and a demanding busy job, but suddenly as I stopped working I freaked out. I spent my days alone with a newborn, no matter how adorable and amazing, he wasn’t much of conversationalist and all my old friends were at work during the day.
Due to his early arrival, I had missed the whole NCT experience which often is where pregnant women find their local peer group. The NCT classes I had signed up for were due to start on the day my son was born.
When you are hormonal, a little crazy, a bit clueless and constantly sleep deprived, building a social network is not a priority, no matter how badly you need it. So I am delighted to introduce Momzie, a new app that will make meeting other mums super easy.
It’s a great and effortless way to meet like-minded local women with kids that are a similar age.
A brainchild of a young Finnish entrepreneur Hanna, Momzie makes finding local friends so easy. You log in with your facebook profile, the app picks your age, gender and first name from Facebook, add a profile photo of your choice and off you go.
You can search by distance from your current location, child’s age, mum’s age or by multiple births. And Momzie will show you the profiles that match your criteria, you then swipe right if you want to get to know them or left if you’d like to pass this time. Once you have both liked each other, a private chat opens up. And what happens next is up to you.
Although my story has a happy end as I had a next door neighbour, who also was a new mum and determined that we should become friends, so through her, I ended up meeting plenty of other local mums and both me and my son made friends for life. But I still jumped at the chance to join Momzie for their UK launch. This brilliant app would help mums like me to find friends, and transform many lives for the better.
The Momzie App means you don’t have to leave finding new friends to chance anymore.
The Momzie App is available to download for free from AppStore and Google Play from 7th February onwards – www.momziapp.net
