Today has been one of those days were I don’t know if I’m coming or going.
Firstly, today is Mr Boo’s nanny’s birthday and as she is so very ill I didn’t know what to do for the best but didn’t want to let the occasion go unmarked. Roo decided that she wanted to get her a balloon so yesterday after school we popped into town to get her one. I brought it into work with me this morning and took it into her and wished her a happy birthday. Today is the first time that I got upset seeing her so ill.
I got a phone call at lunchtime from the nursery to say that Tigger had a temperature of 39.7 and could I come and get him. So had to leave off work early to go and collect. Rang doctors to get an appointment, luckily managed to get him booked in later in the afternoon. After a few hours of cuddles and dozing, off to the doctors. Had to wait nearly an hour to be seen by the duty doctor, Tigger has an ear infection.
Getting into the car, mobile phone rings, Roo’s school, I’m thinking why are they ringing she is at bingo club today. ‘Oh hi, I know Roo is at club this afternoon but just wanted to let you know we think she has chicken pox’… great! I’ll come pick her up. Off to the school I go, collected Roo and a week’s supply of worksheets and reading books. Back in the car to ring Mr Boo and tell him about the kiddies and that I have to go back into work when he gets home to make up the hours I have missed this afternoon.
Off to Asda to collect Tigger’s prescription and get Roo some Germolene + for her spots. Finally get home, cream Roo, dose up Tigger and start making the tea etc.
Mr Boo arrives home, quick handover of what each child has had given to them and back off to work. My deputy manager was here tonight and she is so lovely. She bought Roo and Tigger each a book from the book club to cheer them up… bless her.
Now I just have to find childcare for Roo on Monday and Friday next week, I have no idea what I’m going to do… I hate trying to find alternative childcare as well… I have no other options, another few late nights at work for me I think. I’m so lucky that my managers are flexible.
