Feeling snowed under? Feeling like there’s no time left for you? Feeling a bit like all you do is run around after everyone else? Then you need a self check-in!
And yes, you do have the time to do one! If you’re reading this right now, you’ve probably got 5 minutes to spare, and that’s all the time you need to get the things below done and out of the way.
Because putting yourself first doesn’t have to be this grand, large and in charge change in the way you live. Small actions make the most difference, as they build up over time and help you turn putting yourself first into much more of a healthy habit.
So with all that in mind, here are three of the most simple and effective ways to do something for yourself for once!
‘Bother’ That Friend
First of all, you’re not bothering them. They’re your friend! You’re more than allowed to text them or leave them a message! If you want to talk to them, let them know!
It’s crazy just how many of us feel we can’t ‘intrude’ on someone else’s time, even when we know that person incredibly well. It’s not like you’re rocking up to their front door, barging in, and saying you’re staying for the next week.
You’re just texting them to see if they want to get coffee, grab a drink, or simply just have 5 minutes for you to vent about something. It’s up to them when they answer the message; the ball is in their court, and you’re not bad for rolling it there.

Turn Off Work Notifications
How are you ever going to get some peace and quiet if you’re constantly picking up Teams or Slack notifications, as well as receiving emails 24/7?
You’re not! Which is why you should think about regularly switching off notifications on any apps you use that are to do with work.
If you’re not on the clock, you don’t have to check them. And if you’ve got notifications turned off, you’re going to be a lot less tempted just to give them a look. Out of sight, out of mind!
Schedule a Checkup
No really, check your diary for the last time you saw the dentist or the optician and book yourself an appointment.
We know it’s not the most glamorous of ways to put yourself first, but your health needs to come first. And that requires a few annoying yet wonderfully-preventative measures.
But we can still make this a nicer thing to do than usual! If you’re overdue to get your teeth cleaned, get yourself booked in to see a dentist like Somers Square Dental. A clinic like this makes it far easier to get an appointment that runs to your schedule and your mood.

Putting yourself first is hard, and it requires a bit of hard work to treat yourself right too. But you can do it when you keep it simple!
