When I left school I had a couple of part-time jobs over the summer to earn myself some extra money ready for starting college. One of those jobs was at my local racecourse whether I would direct the cars where to park before dashing off inside the racecourse to sell the racing books that featured all the details of the races for that day.
During my time at the racecourse I was treated to seeing all the amazing outfits from the ladies who were attending race day. From the array of colourful dresses, shoes and some spectacular hats and fascinators, they all made me feel a little envious of them enjoying race day whilst I was busy working.
With Royal Ascot weekend approaching and talk of getting the girls together for a fashion fuelled day out I have been thinking of what I could wear…
I’m not much of a colour person generally speaking but I do love purple so I’m hoping that this Phase Eight dress I have found in Debenhams will be both flattering and stylish for race day, teamed with some purple accessories to finish off the outfit.
Those of you who know will be probably wondering where my trademark polka dots are, well I did find a beautiful Wallis polka dot dress in the sale but when I was searching for a shawl or bolero (got to hide the bingo wings) I stumbled upon the Phase Eight dress and matching bolero and I was sold (sorry polka dots, I still love you).
Are you heading to the races this year?
if so, what are you planning on wearing?
If you still need a little inspiration why not pop over to Emma and 3 or Tired Mummy of Two who are sharing their top tips for race day at Royal Ascot. Mummy Never Sleeps on the other hand looks like she has all weathers covered on her outfit choice, with the hat taking centre stage over at the Little Lily Pad.
