A couple of weeks ago the Boo Roo and Tigger Too household were invited to Alton Towers and the new CBeebies Land. The event was to highlight the current CBeebies Magazine promotion which is offering kids go free vouchers to a wide selection of attractions. Alongside learning about the amazing savings parents could make by using the vouchers included within the issues of the CBeebies Magazine up until the 24th September the children were treated to a range of fun filled activities.
The children were split into groups according to age range, this meant that even the youngest children were keen to join in and have a go. With an allocated grown-up to each group so that the children had the same adult with them all the time, this really helped the children to build confidence within the group. The focus of the activities was educational learning to support the Early Years Curriculum, as the magazine does throughout it’s pages.
Interactive storytelling
Taking a bedtime hour story of Peter Rabbit, Steph read it to our group before asking the children questions about the story and getting them to interact with the pictures within the magazine. The children where then offered the opportunity to touch, smell and taste radishes, strawberries and carrots before making a plate of food for Peter Rabbit by sticking pictures of the food to a paper plate.
Join the Swashbuckle crew
With Tigger being a huge Swashbuckle fan he was beside himself when it came to getting the opportunity to join the Swashbuckle crew. The children were introduced to the different Swashbuckle characters and invited to make their own pirate hat and medal using a range of stickers and gems. Once everyone had a pirate hat and medal it was time to learn the Swashbuckle song, or in Tigger’s case he told everyone how it was suppose to go.
Character recognition and bean bag throwing
A very simple but engaging game of bean bag throwing, with three different CBeebies characters placed within hoops the children were asked to throw bean bags at their chosen character. Once they managed to get the bean bag inside the hoop the children were then asked what sound that animal makes or how they walk.
A special visitor
As the event finished the children were treated to a very special visit from Postman Pat and Jess the Cat. Tigger was a little unsure of him so sadly we didn’t get a photo with Postman Pat.
It just goes to show that a CBeebies Magazine is not only a fabulous treat for the little ones but educational too!
