Eating out: The guide for families

As pretty much every parent in the land will testify, eating out with little ones is anything but straightforward. It’s something that prompts all sorts of problems, stress and leaves many of us asking why we didn’t just attempt to cook at home.

Well, if you fall into said category, let’s take a look at some of the best ways to tackle eating out as a young family. Whether it’s the restaurants around Covent Garden or national chains, all of the following advice should help your quest for a pleasant meal out no-end.

Bill’s Restaurant, Norwich // Children’s Menu

Living in Norwich gives us a wide variety of options when it comes to entertaining the children.  From visiting the cinema to see the latest release, stepping back in time in Norwich Castle or the Museum of Norwich, or simply looking around the numerous shops.  No matter what the activity is that has brought us into the city centre, the children will always be requesting food.  With tired feet, it is nice to sit down, take a load off and enjoy a family meal together.  Bill’s restaurant is a perfect venue for this, especially with their amazing children’s menu.

Taking a look at #YourNewMcdonalds

Can you remember when you first became aware of McDonald’s? I know I can. I was sitting watching Santa Claus the Movie in which there is a scene where the homeless boy Joe is stood staring through the window.  Fast forward a number of years to when I met and started dating Mr. Boo, who worked in one of our local McDonald’s restaurants. He worked there for around 2-3 years and became shift manager before leaving.  So you can imagine my excitement when I was invited along to the recently transformed McDonald’s Norwich Airport to see how McDonald’s has changed.

Middletons Steakhouse & Grill, Norwich

When it comes to visiting restaurants with the children we tend to stick to ones that we have previously visited.  This is down to ensuring that the menu holds something that Tigger will eat and partly down to us being conscious of other diners when the children are playing.  One of the restaurants that Mr. Boo and I have wanted to visit for a while is the Middletons Steakhouse & Grill, Norwich.

YO! Mini Ninja Sushi School

Following the great success of their summer holiday classes, YO!, the Japanese street food and sushi restaurant, are relaunching their popular ‘Mini Ninja Sushi School’ for October half-term. The classes give kids the chance to be creative with food, using fun facts and characters to provide a fresh way to keep them entertained over the half term break.

Ember Inns // Your Local Get Together

One of the things that we love to do as a family is going out and enjoying a meal together.  Whether it is just the five of us or whether we are meeting up with family and friends for a larger get-together.  Going out allows us the opportunity to all enjoy the time together, without one of us thinking about checking the oven or loading the dishwasher etc.  It is a chance to just be a family, chat together and swap stories from our week etc.

Planet Hollywood, London

No matter how many times you have made the journey to our capital it still feels so special.  For those visiting London, it can be for a whole host of reasons, from business meetings to sightseeing.  Meeting family and friends to indulging in a show and some shopping.  Whatever reason draws you to London, make sure your next visit includes a meal at Planet Hollywood.
