The importance of early-stage development

Finding ways to help your child understand the importance of love while also developing fundamentals about life can be a tricky combination. When children are young, they are little sponges, wanting to soak up as much as information as possible and as parents, it’s important to find ways to make certain that we’re filling them full of knowledge to be able to thrive and succeed in life.

Molkky outdoor skittles game

Molkky is an outdoor skittles game in which success is based on a combination of chance and throwing accuracy. All you need is some outdoor space – a garden, park, or a village green – add in a few friends or family members and a set of Molkky Pins.

Eh-Oh! It’s a Tubby Playdate

With her love for the four colourful Teletubbies, we have tried to incorporate it in other areas.  With Teletubbies books enjoyed at storytime, puzzles to challenge her logical and fine motor skills and an array of fun Teletubbies toys to play with.  Something that we’ve recently done to extend the Teletubbies fun is to hold a Tubby Playdate.

Given that the Teletubbies have playmates on hand what better what to have fun than inviting some friends over for fun, food and activities – all Teletubbies themed, of course!

Are you ready for the Smyths Toys Superstores Party Event? – Saturday 26th May 2018

As a child, I can remember the excited feeling I got whenever my mum said that we could pop into the toy store whilst we were out.  Now that I am a parent, I watch the children’s faces light up as I mention that we have time to pop into Smyths Toys on the way home from wherever we have been.  The sparkle appears in their eyes and chattering starts between them on our drive over there.  Planning on what to look at first, guessing to see if they have any Skylanders on offer or whether they have new sets of LEGO available.

TinyMe Personalised Name Puzzle

Focusing on coordination and puzzle solving they have had a number of different puzzles available within her room.  With wooden shape puzzles especially intriguing her.  So when TinyMe recently contacted us I loved the idea of continuing the puzzle fun at home. What better way to do this than with the TinyMe Personalised Name Puzzle.

Celebrating the end of school with Snapfish

Just like that, the end of the school year is approaching. I have mixed feelings about this as this year is slightly different for us.  Roo is counting down her final weeks of primary school – it doesn’t feel like two minutes since she started at the schools preschool.  I can still remember how beautiful and grown up she looked in her school uniform.  Now she is completing her SATs, preparing for one last school residential and eagerly awaiting the transition week across to high school for a taster of things to come.

BenQ WiT eReading Lamp

When using a computer screen, do we actually need to turn on a table lamp? Yes, for the reason that, if you do not turn on the light, the surroundings of the screen will be dark, while the screen itself is bright. This will create a sharp contrast between light and dark, which causes eyestrain or “contrast glare.”

Learning through play with the Casdon Self Service Supermarket

I’m hoping that I’m not the only parent who loves the chance to relive their childhood through their own children.  One of my favourite toys as a child was a Bluebird A La Carte Kitchen.  I can still remember unwrapping it on Christmas day.  With this in mind, you can only imagine how quickly I said yes to having the opportunity to receive a Casdon Self Service Supermarket.  I couldn’t wait to see what it looked like, the shelves filled with produce and handy shopping basket too.  Erm, I mean, I knew that the children would love all these features.

ExtraWize Scooter ScootWize Reflectors

Since we moved to our current home the children have been fortunate enough to have the additional space and freedom to utilise their scooters much more.  Whether they are scooting to school, heading over to one of the parks or just scooting around burning off some energy.  Although the weather at the moment is beautiful, they do still need to be visible to drivers and road users – even if they are scooting on the pathways.  The addition of a ScootWize reflector from ExtraWize gives me the peace of mind that they visible as the light fades, or the clouds appear.

RCA by Venturer Saturn 10 Pro

This year will see Roo make the transition from primary school to high school.  Given that we live in a technology-driven world, it will come as no surprise that a large proportion of her work will be carried out electronically.  Whilst accessing the computers at home and school are all well and good, they are not portable.  With assessments and projects to be completed in groups alongside completing homework with friends, she is going to need something that is portable and functional.
