The first thing you will notice about the book is the beautiful illustrations that are available on each page, whether they be a full page or a little something added to the corner of the text.
The story is based around Lucy and her two little pixie friends, Ping and Pong who live in her hallway clock. It is Christmas time and Lucy is busy putting up her tree and asks Ping and Pong whether they would like to come and take a look. It is then that Lucy explains about Santa and how he only visits once a year but only if she is sleeping.
After listening to her Grandparents read her Christmas stories she asks if she can stay up to see Santa when he arrives. Her mum explains that she can’t stay up to wait for Santa as he only visits if you are sleeping. With a knowing glance given to Ping and Pong Lucy goes to bed leaving them to wait for Santa on her behalf.
You’ll have to read the story to see whether Ping and Pong stay awake long enough to meet Santa and whether they have an amazing Christmas adventure.
Boo Roo and Tigger Too’s thoughts…
Roo really likes stories about fairies and pixies so took to the characters of Ping and Pong easily. At six years old she was able to read almost all of the story herself, which Tigger in turn enjoyed listening to.
At a RRP of £6.99 I think that the book offers good value for money and would make a lovely little Christmas gift (I’m the person who buys children books and PJ’s for Christmas).
