A car parked on the side of a road

Throughout my teenage years, I had grand plans to pass my driving test as soon as possible after my seventeenth birthday. With plans to join the Army Royal Logistics Corp, driving would be an integral part of my role. Unfortunately, I was unable to afford driving lessons whilst I was studying at college and had to delay my dream of getting behind the wheel.

Content with being a passenger

Dating Mr. Boo, who passed his driving test just after his 18th birthday I soon found that I had no need to learn to drive for the immediate future. I lived on a good bus route and Mr. Boo was always on hand for date nights etc. so I was content with being a passenger.

It wasn’t until we decided to have a family that Mr. Boo pushed for me to learn. Not wanting me to struggle on and off public transport with a pushchair etc. Due to my impatient nature, I managed to pass my driving test first time within a few months of taking lessons.

My love affair with the Citroen Xsara Picasso

With hopes of soon having a family to ferry around, we traded in Mr. Boo’s Ford Escort for our first Citroen Xsara Picasso. I say our first as we have had four Xsara Picassos over the years. With an awful mistake of getting a Vauxhall Zafira after our car was written off outside our house. We were short on time due to the hire car needing to be returned. Needless to say, Mr. Boo understood just how much I disliked it and we soon traded it in for our current Xsara Picasso.

I always wanted the big MPV car, I love the space available and the idea that it will still work for us once the children are teenagers. Nowadays, Mr. Boo has the Xsara Picasso whilst I drive the Citroen C4 Grand Picasso we bought with some of my redundancy monies. It’s lovely having the additional two seats in the boot should we want to take friends or family with us on trips.

My beautiful car feeling sorry for itself after a recent run-in with a traffic island – it was a case of hit the kerb or a lorry, I opted for the kerb!
