As a family we enjoy going out and eating at new places, often turning to Google to find restaurants within the area we are visiting to decide where we should eat. When selecting somewhere with the children we like to stick to chain restaurants like Beefeater. Beefeater The Foxburrow, Lowestoft is somewhere Mr Boo and I have previously visited but quite some time ago. I’m not entirely sure why we haven’t visited for a while or why we have never taken the children for a meal there, but that all changed earlier this week when we paid The Foxburrow, Lowestoft a visit.

Booking a table
When it comes to booking a table I like the flexibility to book online as well as being able to call the restaurant directly. We opted to book a table for 5pm which gave us time to collect the children from school, pop home to get changed and head over to Lowestoft.
Parking
With amble parking at the restaurant and the adjoining Premier Inn we were able to simply pull in, park and head into the restaurant without having to drive around playing ‘hunt the car parking space’.
Table selection
Upon arrival we were welcomed into the restaurant and after checking our booking on their system we were shown downstairs to our table. The Foxburrow has a quite a quirky layout as the tables are available across several different levels rather than the traditional one or two floors.
Menu selection
Famous for steaks, Beefeater offers a selection of the best cuts, cooked to sizzling perfection– including its ’74 signature steak – and has added four new mouth-watering burgers to its range, including the mega ‘Triple Stacked Burger’, which is a must for any meat lover, incorporating a 1/4lb steak burger, slow-cooked pulled beef and beef rashers.
Even if you’re not a meat-lover, Beefeater is determined to satisfy everyone’s tastes by offering a new fresh fish dish ‘Salmon Fillet with a Herb Crust’, served on a bed of kale and with dauphinoise potatoes. There are also several new seasonal dishes, including a juicy Double Peri-Peri Chicken and mouth-watering meaty salads.
As if the above were not enough, Beefeater is now offering ‘Unlimited Chips’ with any meal – meaning that even the hungriest of eaters will be satisfied!
And for those that have a sweet tooth, Beefeater has a range of new lip-smacking puddings to meet your craving: a gooey ‘Chocolate Melt in the Middle Pudding’, a crumbly ‘Vanilla Baked Cheesecake with Raspberry Compote’ and a tempting ‘Eton Mess Sundae.
Starters
Whenever we eat out I don’t normally select a starter as there is often little selection and I’m not a fan of the traditional prawn cocktail etc. The Beefeater menu offers a range of different starters including the two that we opted for Bourbon BBQ Mini Bites and Loaded Potato Dippers.
Mains
Having booked for 5pm we were in plenty of time for the Daytime Value menu which has main meals starting from just £4.99, however after looking at the main menu Mr Boo and I both decided that the Beefeater Mixed Grill was the meal for us.
Desserts
Dessert menus can make or break a restaurant for me, I’m the type of person who looks at what is available on the dessert menu first to decide upon what main meal I have. Studying the Beefeater dessert menu I wasn’t disappointed and thought that I had chosen my dessert until I spotted the Black Forest Gateanu which I just had to try. Mr Boo opted to stick with a traditional sticky toffee pudding and custard.
Mr. Men Little Miss Kids Menu
The Mr. Men Little Miss Kids Menu offers a selection of meal deals starting at £4.49 for one course + squash, £5.49 for two courses + squash or £5.99 for three courses + squash. I really like that Roo was able to select which sides she had accompany her meal rather than it being a set dish which might not suit every taste.

The Foxburrow, Lowestoft is located to the north of the town along the A12 making it a convenient place to visit for both those who live in the town and those visiting from the surrounding towns and villages.
Our food was delicious and we really liked the selection of meals available making a restaurant for all the family, the children’s menu was especially good with a variety of different dishes available. I can see this being somewhere that we visit more often and would consider booking for family get-together etc.
The waitress was really good with the children, making them laugh and chatting away to them, naming Tigger the chip monster as she watched him attempt to eat his weight in chips.
