The Bad Mother’s Diary, Back to Life, and visiting Blackpool #LittleLoves

April 26, 2019

It feels like an age has passed since I joined in with the #LittleLoves. Something I once loved joining in with each week with, however, when it was changed to a monthly link up I lost my way. Hence my lack of joining in and sharing what I’ve been reading, watching, wearing and making.

#LittleLoves for April…

Read

This year I have fallen back in love with reading. Although I’m still not the bookworm I once was, I am making time to enjoy a chapter or two when I can. This month I have managed to enjoy two books with a third on it’s way…

  • The Bad Mother’s Diary – following the journey of Juliette who realises that her boyfriend and father to her child isn’t all that great. Whilst trying to navigate the early days of motherhood, a somewhat crazy family and a mother-in-law who turns up as and when she feels like it.
  • The Truths and Triumphs of Grace Atherton – the story of a woman who has her heart broken, but then puts it back together again in the most uplifting and exquisite way. Between the simple melody of running her violin shop and the full-blown orchestra of her romantic interludes in Paris with David, her devoted partner of eight years, Grace Atherton has always set her life to music.
  • One Day in December – This has been on my reading pile since I read some reviews via the Mumsnet Book Club. Just getting into this one but liking it so far.

Watch

Between the school Easter holidays and general life. I don’t feel as though I’ve really watched much TV as such. Opting to enjoy movies with the children for extra family film nights.

I have managed to catch up on the new BBC series Back to Life. I caught this by accident whilst channel surfing before bed one evening. After watching a few minutes I decided to record it to watch on another day. Which I did, and loved it. Thankfully the whole series had been added to iPlayer so I didn’t have to wait for it be shown each week (streaming services have made me so impatient for next episodes on ‘normal TV’). The last episode felt rushed as though they need to quickly tie up all the storylines, which was a shame. But still worth a watch.

Wore

With the weather changing it’s mind from one day to the next, I’ve not really been sure what to wear. The warmer days have allowed me to bring out my floral trousers which has made a change from wearing jeggings throughout the summer.

Made

Wonderful memories have been made this month. With a family adventure to Blackpool, a place I spent many a childhood day trip. So it was lovely to share this experience with the children. It was a little chilly and a couple of the attractions I had planned to visit were unavailable but more reason to go back another time.

Lastly

I’ve been working hard on my word of the year. Attempting to gain a new balance in my life. There are areas which I feel as though I have improved, whilst others feel as though they are worse than ever. I’m not entirely sure how I can improve these areas, or whether I just have to accept that some things are what they are.
