Startrite X-Bright Shoes

January 25, 2013

Over Christmas I noticed that Tigger’s shoes were starting to look a little worse for wear. Looking back on the calendar I noticed that I hadn’t been to get his feet measured for quite some time #mummyfail. So once Roo had gone back to school after the Christmas break I decided to take Tigger to get some new shoes.

Luckily we live just 20 miles from the Start-rite factory in Norwich so we popped in on the way into the city. As the schools had just gone back the shop was empty and we were served straight away. After measuring Tigger’s feet, now a 6F (he had been wearing a 5F serious #mummyfail) the assistant popped out the back to see what shoes were available in his size.

We had a choice of four styles, there were some really lovely brown shoes but Tigger doesn’t have many brown clothes. So after trying another style on we asked to try the X-Bright in blue. They fitted like a glove and Tigger went off for a little walk, it was only then did he realise that the heels flashed. Cue lots of jumping up and down in front of the mirror.

With two hook n loop straps getting the shoes on and off is quick and easy. Start-rite seems to have given much thought about the challenges parents face when getting shoes on and off. The soles are flexible to allow movement for those who are just finding their feet, whilst offering stability in each step. The insole has a breathable mesh lining, hopefully minimizing boy’s smelly feet (I can but hope).

Of course, the best part (well according to Tigger) is the flashing lights in the heels that activate when pressure is applied to the sole.

What was really fantastic about the shoe buying experience? The assistant noticed that Tigger seemed to walk funny and asked about his walking. Inquiring whether that was how he usually walked and if we had seen our GP about it. This impressed me as, firstly, she noticed what I have noticed for months and secondly, that she spoke up and said something about her concerns.

Disclosure: I purchased these shoes myself and I was not asked to write about my experience, I’m just sharing some fabulous boys shoes
