That’s not my post

February 6, 2013

For my 30th birthday, last year I asked all my friends and family for Amazon vouchers as I wanted to purchase a new camera. Not just any camera, but the camera that I checked daily on Amazon, making sure that was the one I truly wanted.

My work colleagues did a collection for me and I received a fabulous £140 gift voucher towards the cost. With family and friends also contributing gift vouchers, along with trading in my nectar points I finally had the £409 I needed saved.

So just after New Year’s a finally purchased my Nikon D3200 Digital SLR Camera

I received my estimated delivery date and waited in anticipation… and waited, and waited… My estimated delivery date came and went, but no camera. I checked my account online…

Status: DELIVERED – What??
Location: Porch – I don’t even have a porch!!

Where on earth had my camera delivered??

There are two issues here, firstly, I cannot believe that a delivery company would leave a £400 camera laying in someone’s porch without a signature. I mean why on earth?? Secondly, that someone must have come home to find a parcel in their porch and instead of thinking ‘That’s not my post‘, they happily took it in. I imagine they were quite pleased so find they had bagged themselves a nice new camera.

I cannot not fault Amazon customer service, they were helpful and emailed me to update me on their investigation. Whilst sadly they were unable to locate my missing camera, they did issue me with a refunded for the cost of my camera.

Thankfully my next purchase was sent via Parcelforce, online tracking and signature upon delivery, plus if you are not home they will leave a card and leave at your local post office ready for you to collect… ahhh finally a delivery company who realise the importance of the parcels they are delivering.
